Thrive in the Community

Every penny raised by Thrive is invested back into the bike trails in the area and to help make mountain biking accessible to everyone. Here are some of the things we have been able to support.

Thrive donated to the Aberdeenshire Trail Association to fund maintenance on Heartbreak Ridge - one of the iconic trails in the area.

After Storm Babet, we were able to fund the emergency work to have Tarland Trails open again within two days.

Over the summer of 2024, we funded a series of adaptive ride outs run by Able 2 Adventure and Sport Aberdeen.

There will be another series running over the summer of 2025 funded by Thrive - dates will be coming soon

The Seymour Butts Climb at Tarland Trails now has access for adapted bikes - thanks to Thrive

Quote from Gavin Baxter:

Deeside Thistle Cycling Club is incredibly grateful for the generous support of Thrive as main sponsor of its Glenlivet Mini-Downhill race on Sunday 15th June 2025.  This will be a massive event at Bike Glenlivet with riders from 8 – 16 able to race it out for some amazing prizes.

Entries are selling fast, proving that there is a strong demand for entry-level mountain bike racing, with riders signing up from all over Scotland.  Running events such as this safely demands good planning, a great team of volunteers, an experienced team of medics, timing equipment and a huge list of other items.  Without the support of Thrive, supporting this local grassroots event, entry costs would have been significantly higher, something we specifically wanted to keep as low as possible.

The Glenmore Adaptive Cycling Course is made possible by Able2Adventure, Experience Community and Glenmore Lodge. Thrive has funded Sarah Hawken to take part in 2025.

Quote from Sarah:

Thank you to Thrive for helping fund the course, allowing me to experience the independence and joy that comes with being outdoors in the beautiful Scottish countryside which would otherwise be inaccessible to me as a wheelchair user.

I hope to use the experience to grow my own personal A-MTB skills as I work to become a A-MTB cycle leader, and to show that you can access the great outdoors with a disability. I want to break barriers, push limits and inspire others to embrace an active lifestyle and this course will set me up with the right skills, knowledge and confidence to do so.
